Advertising sales - on commission

Are you interested in working for a high-quality, high-profile independent women's quarterly?

Filament magazine is a women's magazine of erotic male image and intelligent articles, which has been grabbing UK and international headlines since its launch in June 2009.

Filament is seeking an experienced magazine advertising sales person to sell our ad space on commission, with earning potential of up to £32,400 per annum.

You will need the following:

  • Experience in successful advertising sales for at least one magazine.
  • The ability and facilities to work independently from home and travel as required.
  • Initiative and self-motivation.
  • Imagination, creativity and the ability to think outside the box.
  • The ability to understand and sell a product that doesn't conform to stereotypes.
  • A good understand of our magazine advertising sales works, and who to approach to have the best impact.
  • Must be able to commit to some normal business hours.

Benefits:

  • Decide your own hours to some extent, so may be able to fit around other commitments.
  • Work from home and travel as required.
  • Earn 20% commission, paid upon client payment being received. We will also pay all reasonable expenses for those who are successful in making sales.

Job requirements:

  • Identifying potential advertisers, making contact with them and encouraging them to advertise with Filament.
  • Keeping good records of who you have contacted, when and what the outcome was.
  • Following up with advertisers who have booked ads to make sure that payment is received in a timely fashion.

  • Filament is a unique women's magazine. Research about readers' responses to previous magazines that presented erotic images of men showed that the type of advertising is critical to whether readers enjoy the magazine. Additionally, we sell Filament on the basis that we don't do some content that other women's magazines do. Together, these things mean that 'any old advertiser' is not necessarily suitable for Filament. Give some examples of the types of advertisers you think would be most suitable for Filament.
  • Details of any constraints you have on working hours, travel etc.
